Less of a project and more of a personal discovery, a trip to Rwanda in May of 2007 opened my eyes to a country that is showing exceptional spirit and strength in rebuilding after the 1994 Genocide that killed 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus. I wanted to show how Rwandan's are eager to move forward, and how the optimism of youth will carry the country into a brighter future.
Right now similar ethnically motivated atrocities are occurring again in Sudan and the World continues to just watch. It is important to remember these events and not forget the faces that have been affected. Rwanda is moving forward from it's dark past and I wanted to show this with my photos.
